note from 12/5/25: i made this during the earlier stages of generative AI, before i was aware of its ethical and environmental drawbacks. while i will never use generative AI again in my works, i consider cat despair to represent a pivotal time when i was first designing games and will be keeping it on itch.io for what it means to me. but seriously y'all, don't use generative AI
